Hey,
So... yesterday I went to see my spine surgeon at 1:30. I got there and they sent me down to get x-rays. Then I went to wait in the boring old doctors room. They put the x-rays up on the light thing and I took one look at them and was like "Oh my gosh." I could tell it had gotten a lot worse. The curves had gone from 16, 34 and 20° to now 16, 40 and 33° My surgeon came in and told me that I would need a brace again!
Great... just what I wanted to hear! He said that I would need to wear it 18 hours a day for a year or a year and a half! He also explained that if the brace didn't help the curves from progressing I might need another surgery. But he said we don't need to worry about that yet. He called the 'brace guy' (Merv) and he said he was on his way. I waited for him to get there and then he molded me for the brace. Same old same old thing I went through 2 years ago. Merv set up an appointment for me to go for the brace fitting next friday. It takes a few hours and then they take me for x-rays in the brace to make sure it is doing its job. I currently only have 141 and a half hours until I get my brace
(More details in my scoliosis story) Now I am going to have to go shopping for 'brace clothes' again. Hey... now I have an excuse to go shoppin and get new clothes!!!! LOL. The only thing I am worried about is having to wear the brace to school. I don't want people bumping in to me and being like "Hey why are u so hard?" Yesterday was a little hard for me, but i just tried to keep a smile on my face. I want to be as positive as I can. I am not really looking forward to next friday, but I know that this is all for a reason and I just have to keep that in mind. I guess my feeling right now are: worried, optimistic, and excited... in a weird sort of way. I am kinda mad at my sis because she wasn't being very supportive. She was just like "so what... who cares if you're getting another brace" I know that I have a ton of support from my spinekids though!!! THANKS I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
I will keep you updated with everything that happens.

I got my brace today. (look at my scoliosis story for all the details) The bottom curve went from 33° out of the brace to 19° in it. My doctor was very happy with the way it turned out and told me that I need to wear it 18 hours a day and i will probably only be in it for a year or so. At first I was so uncomfortable in the brace. It pushes in on my sides and i can hardly breathe in it. The brace guy tighten it really tight and he says 'there... is that tight enough' I was like "um... YEAH... i am practically dying here" lol! It will just take me some time to get used to it but i know things are only going to get better from here. As my doctor told me, just a short time of hardship with the brace is much better than having to go through more surgeries and back pain! He told me that I am investing in my future by wearing the brace. He said that he only wants the best for me and doesn't want anything to go wrong. I trust in him so much and am very confident in myself. I also went to target today and purchased a few clothing articles to wear with the brace. I sure can't wear what I used to anymore, but i just have to accept that this is part of me now! I am sure i will be shopping a lot before school starts. I guess that is pretty much it for now!

Wow... its been a long time since i wrote anything here. sorry! Well I guess the brace has been going ok. Its been a lot easier this time around since its my second time in a brace. I was very strict about my wearing time when I first got it, but now i am slacking a little...especially on the weekends...oops! I hope that my back doesn't get a lot worse. I went back to my doctor on Decmeber 17th 2004 and he said that we would have to keep a close watch on the curves. He told me to come back in 6 months and we will take some xrays and see what the next step is. Well now that the 6 months date is coming around, my mom has scheduled an appointment for June 10th. That means I don't have to wear my brace to bed on the 9th YAY!!!! Well... if the curves have gotten a lot worse, I will need another surgery... eek!!! But if they are doing ok I may be able to get out of the brace. I am getting really anxious for the appointment to come. I really don't know what to expect. I will keep you updated and let you know how everything goes. Hopefully I won't need a second surgery!!!

Last friday was my doctor's appointment. The appointment was scheduled for 2:00 so I got there a little before 2. When I got there, I was sent down to get x-rays taken. The first time they took x-rays, they only did one from the front and forgot to do a side one. They had to call me back in to get the side x-ray done. I waited for a really long time for the x-rays to print. I was down at x-rays for a total of 35 minutes. Finally the x-rays printed and we took them back up to the doctor's office. We sat in the waiting room for a really long time. The doctor was an hour and a half behind!!!! Finally I got called back and the doctor came in. He looked at my x-rays and measured my curves. It turned out that one of my curves had only gone from 30 to 32 and the other ones he wasn't concerned about so he didn't measure them. He said that I was probably almost done growing, but he didn't want to stop the brace too soon. He told me to come back in 5 months and I might be able to be done with the brace then if everything is ok. The doctor seemed really rushed because he was so behind. I was kinda disappointed because it hardely even seemed worth it to wait that long. I am already looking forward to my next appointment and can't stop thinking about it. I just want to know what will happen next, but I know that its all in god's hands and I just have to trust him now.
